In hydropower plants, bronze bearings and bushings have an important role in keeping turbines running smoothly for long periods of time. These wear parts can handle constant movement, heavy loads, and exposure to water without losing performance, their copper-based structure offers strength, corrosion resistance, and a naturally smooth surface that helps reduce friction and wear. Due to these qualities, bronze parts are also used in other types of power generation equipment, including thermal power systems, where reliability and long service life are just as critical.
- In hydropower equipment, copper-alloy bearings and bushings carry radial loads and keep large rotating assemblies running smoothly. Our integral bronze bushings use an integrated forming process that gives higher rigidity than assembled designs. Fewer joints mean fewer leak paths and less risk of misalignment, which is critical for hydro generator shafts. Because the material provides self-lubrication, these bushings can work in locations that are hard to service and reduce how often you need to perform maintenance.
- For watery and sediment-rich conditions, tin bronze and aluminum bronze offer strong corrosion resistance. Bushings can be customized with flanges or with tailored lubrication grooves to match turbine shaft layouts. On low-speed, heavy-load sections, such as the main shaft support, an optimized oil-film pattern spreads the load and absorbs shocks, keeping the rotation stable and extending service life.
